The Stone Canyon Pizza...

Pollo Pesto and Grand Canyon Pizzas

The Stone Canyon Pizza Company

Downtown Parkville

15 Main Street

Parkville, MO 64152

My first time to Stone Canyon pizza. The atmosphere was lively at the downtown location during the prime dinner time. We ended up trying the Pollo Pesto and Grand Canyon pizza.

I had to try the Grand Canyon pizza given the namesake. It has Mozzarella and cheddar cheese, smothered in American sausage, ground beef, pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, black olives, green peppers and red onions. The toppings and sauces were rather tasty. I would order this one again.

I was really looking forward the Pollo Pesto (pesto sauce topped with mozzarella cheese, roasted chicken breast, spinach, sweet roasted red peppers and toasted pine nuts) Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. All the components sounded and looked great, but the pizza was simply too dry. Not enough pesto sauce. I guess we should have listened to our waitress who did tells us it wasn’t one of her favorites but we ordered the smallest size anyway.

Overall the pizzas weren’t as great as they looked. The crust was rather bland, but the all the ingredients seemed to be high quality and good. It also nice that they weren’t overly greasy. But the sauce and crust held them back from being great.

Discount to restaurants - watch out Groupon?

Discount to restaurants - watch out Groupon?:
VillageVines.com has an interesting concept that has a bigger advantage for alcohol drinkers. Hybrid of a happy hour and a Groupon. The restaurants however set the time range that the discounts apply to bring in people during slower parts of the day. $10 dollars to reserve a table, and 30% discount is discretely applied to your bill.

I question how much one would really save due to the $10 fee. For instance, $60 bill with a 30% discount would be $42. Adding back the reservation fee of $10 puts the cost back to $52 and the effective saving is really only about 13% (omitted tax/tip which one would have to pay anyhow except it’s higher of course on a bigger bill).

Currently available in New York City, Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Denver, Miami, Atlanta.

The Mac Daddy $10.99 - McCoy’s in Westport in Kansas...

The Mac Daddy $10.99 - McCoy’s in Westport in Kansas City

Extremely delicious mac ‘n’ cheese for the cheese lover! This dish is their upgraded version of “mom’s macaroni & cheese” which has peas and smoked bacon mixed in. Can’t go wrong with bacon right? It’s made with baked shell pasta, four cheeses, and toasted garlic breadcrumbs (mmm garlic).

Sweet & Spicy shrimp from Kona Grill.

So I was at Blanc Burgers in the Country Club Plaza about to enjoy a burger. I caved into the urge of getting a soda since they have such a unique variety. I glanced at their chalkboard and wanted something that just popped out at me. So I went with this locally brewed Thai Basil soda. I never would have thought to have basil in a beverage. My gamble paid off. It was refreshing and delicious. It even had some basil bits in the bottle. It tasted like basil of course but that’s probably not descriptive enough. It’s a sweet minty flavor with a slight tingly spice to it.
